Geneva gears up for biggest ever Vitafoods

Vitafoods version 10.0 will kick-off tomorrow with the industry set to unveil new ingredients at what the organizers are promising will be the biggest and best event to date.

With the over 400 exhibitors, 115 of which are new, four new pavilions, and 25 per cent more exhibition space, this year's Vitafoods is set to be the biggest since it all kicked off a decade ago.

This year many companies are again using the event to launch new products.

Tate & Lyle will be exhibiting product prototypes to showcase its new Enrich service to add fibre, proteins, minerals and vitamins to a range of foods including fruit drinks, cereal bars, chocolate milks and dairy desserts.

French polyphenol specialist Berkem will be launching its new Powergrape ingredient for the sports nutrition field and supplements that tackle oxidative stress like anti-ageing products.

The ingredient is reported to already have boosted the antioxidant status in sportsmen during a prospective clinical study.

Croda Health Care are set to unveil their omega-3 trio containing DHA, EPA and the less well-known DPA.

Paul Kollesoff, marketing manager, Croda Health Care told NutraIngredients.com last week: "We are now taking the omega 3 market to a new level."

Israel-based LycoRed will launch its line of vitamin B12 formulations as the company targets the European B12 market, following LycoRed's move to become a leading formulator of vitamin B12 in the US after the acquisition of H. Reisman Corporation.

Hansen are to launch their new phytonutrients range, available as liquid, powder and beadlets for use in a wide-range of formulations and applications, is split into two categories: carotenoids and polyphenols.

Fenchem will launch its new omega-3 and flax lignan ingredients, and Kemin Health will launch its Slendesta slimming ingredient in Europe.

Blue California is has introducing its nano-encapsulated, deodorized and water-soluble DHA, VitaDHA, derived from fish in powder and liquid form which makes it ideal for food, beverage and nutritional supplements applications.
