The expansions include:
- Completion of an expansion for the production of potassium phosphates at its Port Maitland, Ontario facility, for the meat and dairy industries.
- Plans to expand its Chicago Heights, Illinois facility to increase capacity for tri-calcium phosphate by 25 percent by mid-2011, following increased demand particularly from the beverage and dairy industries.
- And confirmation that the company’s previously announced expansion of Cal-Rise capacity at its Nashville, Tennessee facility is on schedule to be completed in July this year, increasing capacity for its calcium leavening agents for the bakery industry by 50 percent.
Vice president of the specialty phosphates business Joseph Golowski said: “The investments we are making support our stated strategy of focusing on higher value specialty phosphate product applications. In addition to providing a significant capacity increase, these upgrades achieve important extensions to our product range to better meet the needs of our customers. Our enhanced product portfolio will further strengthen Innophos’ industry-leading capability in enabling food and beverage customers to effectively respond to consumer demand for lower sodium products and for calcium fortification.”
