New steak plant for Jacksonville, US
The Chicago-based Bruss Company, which is a subsidiary of US processing giant Tyson Foods, is investing more than $11m in the project. The company said it had already acquired a 47,000sq ft meat processing facility in an industrial park in north-west Jacksonville and will begin renovations soon.
The new plant will manufacture portion-controlled steak and chops from beef and pork for supply to the Bruss Company’s restaurant customers, which include national chains located throughout the US. Bosses expect it to be up and running by mid-2012 and predict an annual payroll of approximately $8m.
“We’re expanding our business and opening a second plant to improve our ability to serve the company’s growing customer base in the southeastern US and believe Jacksonville best suits our needs,” said Tony Cericola, general manager of The Bruss Company.
