The International Meat Trade Association (IMTA), the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Brazilian Association of Beef Exporters (ABIEC) discuss the environmental progress made in Brazilian livestock production, and the challenges ahead.

With its high production capacity, Brazil is well-positioned to take the lead in meeting the world's ever-growing demand for meat. But how much can the country increase agricultural production without hurting the environment? As many NGOs have criticised Brazil's management of the Amazon's protection and expressed concern over its new Forest Code, government and industry representatives tried to set the record straight at the Financial Times' Sustainable Agriculture Summit.

IMTA director Liz Murphy, WWF US livestock director Bryan Weech and ABIEC director Fernando Sampaio talk to GlobalMeatNews about the progress made in livestock production, the challenges that lay ahead and the solutions to satisfy global demand while preserving the environment.
