'Breakthrough innovation' sees PepsiCo launch Tropicana juices with tea
Discussing the orange juice launch, Kate Keller, Trop50 director of marketing, said: "Trop50 is one of the most successful new product launches in the last five years. It's clear that we're easing the tension for consumers who love fruit juice but also are sugar and calorie conscious."
She added: "These leading-edge flavors give people even more ways to enjoy refreshing fruit juice goodness throughout the day."
Trop50 Juice with Tea (pictured) is a fruit juice and tea mix with 50% fewer calories that combines fruit juices with white and green teas: lines include Trop 50 Peach with White Tea, Trop50 Raspberry with Green Tea and Trop50 Pear Lychee with White Tea.
Containing 35-45 calories per 8oz (236ml) glass, PepsiCo said they provided a full day's supply (daily value or DV) of vitamin C and were also a good vitamin E antioxidant source.
The second new product launch, Trop50 Red Orange contains 50% less sugar and calories, but with no artificial sweeteners (all Trop50 varieties use stevia-based sweetener PureVia) and contains 50 calories per 8oz glass, and PepsiCo said it provided a full day's supply of vitamin C and was also a good source of potassium.
Available across the States from May, the suggested retail price for 59-oz bottles is $3.96, while Peach with White Tea and Raspberry with Green Tea will be available in 12oz bottles for $1.69.
PepsiCo said that Trop50 would support the new varieties with new TV spots that extended its 'Girlfriends' campaign starting Jane Krakowski, where she and a trio of girlfriends "dish about life, love, and looking and feeling good".
Existing Trop50 juice beverage varieties include Lemonade, Raspberry Lemonade, Pomegranate Blueberry, Pineapple Mango, Farmstand Apple and the original Orange.
Trop50 Orange is available in No Pulp, Some Pulp and No Pulp Calcium & Vitamin D varieties, where the latter provides 35% DV of calcium and 25% DV of vitamin D – an excellent source of both nutrients.
