He spoke at the Congreso Internacional De La Carne (International Congress of Meat) in Mexico last week, in a discussion on halal meat products and market opportunities.
"Muslim consumers primarily drive the demand for halal certified meat. I am optimistic that education in the meat industry will help exporting companies understand halal compliance laws in Asia, the Middle East and the USA," said Chaudry.
The two-day conference was organised by the Mexican Association of Feedlot Cattle (AMEG) and the National Committee for Beef Cattle Systems Products, and was supported by Mexico’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).
It featured 20 lectures and workshops, 100 exhibitors and 4,800 attendees.
