Brazil Foods expands in Argentina

An opening ceremony was held for the expanded Brazil Foods (BRF) facility in Baraderos, Argentina, earlier this week.

The head of the trade promotion department at the Brazilian embassy in Buenos Aires (SECOM), counsellor Daniel Lins was in attendance at the event, according to the Brazilian government’s export website brasilexport.gov.br.

The total works amounted to an investment of approximately US$7m, with the likely creation of 60 additional jobs, bringing the total number of employees at the site to 438.

Argentine president Cristina Kirchner, who joined the inauguration ceremony by video conference, said she welcomed the company’s decision to invest in Argentina, and noted that the plant would help to reduce the deficit in Argentina concerning imports of sausages.

Last month BRF entered a joint venture agreement with UK company Invicta Food Group, with a view to increasing the distribution of processed foods to markets in the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia.
