Ecolab creates Latin America HQ and 50 jobs

Ecolab will establish a Latin America regional headquarters in Florida creating 50 jobs.

The project will invest more than $800,000 in Miramar.

John Guttery, president of Ecolab Latin America, said: “Miramar was an ideal location for our Latin America regional headquarters because of its healthy infrastructure, strong talent pool and great transportation connections to the region.

“Our business in Latin America is growing rapidly, and this investment underscores our commitment to the region.”

Cissy Proctor, executive director of the department of Economic Opportunity, said: “The 50 new jobs coming to South Florida as a result of Ecolab’s new Latin America regional headquarters will provide more opportunities to many families. Florida’s talent pool and global infrastructure will help Ecolab continue to be successful as they grow in our community.”

Meanwhile, Ecolab has closed the Charlotte office of a company it acquired the US operations of last year. A total of 60 jobs were lost, according to a WARN notice.

The firm acquired the US operations of North Carolina-based Swisher Hygiene for $40m in cash in August 2015.

Swisher Hygiene provides hygiene and sanitizing to the foodservice, hospitality, retail and healthcare markets. Sales in 2014 for the operations in the agreement were $176m.
