To meet growing demand for on-the-go breakfast and snacks, Nature’s Path expands resealable pouch granola line

The British Columbia-based company is starting the new year by launching a new line of granola varieties in resealable bags. The three new flavors are Coconut & Cashew, Vanilla Pumpkin Seed, and Blueberry Pecan.

Nearly one third of the granola category growth comes from bagged granola, and a consumer survey commissioned by the company found that 78% of consumers prefer granola in a re-sealable bag, echoing a Packaged Facts survey from May 2016 which found that consumers want a ‘quick, easy, painless, and portable breakfast.’

To meet the growing demand, Nature’s Path is launching three new flavors of granola available in a re-sealable pouch that helps keep crunchy clusters of organic oats fresh. The 11oz pouches will sell with an MSRP of $4.99 starting January 2017.

“Nature’s Path prides itself on being a pioneer of innovations that target taste, health, and packaging,” Arjan Stephens, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Nature’s Path, told FoodNavigator-USA. “Our smaller, re-sealable packages are easier to store and transport – and do a great job of maintaining the freshness of the granola.”

The three new flavors are part of a growing pouch granola category for the company, joining existing flavors including Honey Almond, Summer Berries and Almond Cranberry as well as the Love Crunch Granola family.

Like most other Nature’s Path products, the new products are gluten-free, certified organic, and contain no GMO ingredients. “Fiber-rich, made with whole grains and featuring premium ingredients and superfoods such as chia seeds, coconut, dried blueberries and cashew butter, the new pouch granola flavors provide a better breakfast and snacking option in a convenient, consumer preferred format,” the company said.
