Iowa-based cooked meat manufacturer Burke Corporation has launched a line of all-natural meat ingredients that the company has said contain no artificial ingredients and have been processed less than their other meats products.
The new brand is the 16th portfolio that Burke Corporation will now be able to offer the foodservice and prepared foods industry in the US.
The ‘Made Simple’ range includes a number of sausage crumbles, beef toppings, meatballs, uncured meats such as pepperoni and salami, and a chicken sausage with parmesan and sun-dried tomato.
Clean label demand
Burke Corporation said the range was “perfect” for businesses looking to sell simpler or cleaner foods. This comes as the company said cleaner labels could mean “bigger business”, as 79% of US consumers have said they read ingredient labels on food packaging, according to a Technomic report quoted by the company.
Citing different research from a webinar hosted by Pizza Marketplace in 2016, the company said 82% of food buyers agreed the term ‘clean label’ had an influence on purchasing decisions.
With this research suggesting that clean label food influences the decision of food consumers, Burke said it had identified an opportunity to position itself as “an innovative leader in the industry”.
Mike Dougherty, senior director of industrial sales and marketing at Burke Corporation, said various business units collaborated to create the ‘Made Simple’ range.
“The team identified a need for a line of clean-labelled products that would position us as an innovative leader in the industry… We’re excited to offer up new ways to give our customers the cleaner labels and great flavours they are looking for.”
