Slim Jim meat snacks get fancy

Conagra Brands has launched a three-strong range of premium Slim Jim meat snacks.

The Slim Jim Premium Smoked Sticks are made from either grass-fed beef or premium pork and come in three flavours: Smokehouse Original, Thai Style Chili or Memphis Style BBQ.

For many Slim Jim fans, as they leave their teenage years, taste preferences change,” said Adam Beane, senior brand manager at Slim Jim.

We’re addressing this opportunity by introducing new Slim Jim Premium Smoked Sticks – a premium meat snack with the advantages of both sticks and jerky. Premium Smoked Sticks deliver high-quality ingredients, sophisticated flavours and a less greasy experience, all with the easy-to-eat convenience of a stick.”

Snack attack

The snacks are slow-cooked for 14 hours and seasoned with a rich blend of herbs, spices and salts, using meat from animals raised without hormones.

The products will fly into US supermarket shelves this month and can be picked up for $1.79 or $4.99, depending on whether you buy the 34-gram (g) or 116g packs.

The launch comes following significant strides by Conagra in the meat snacks market this year, after buying protein-based meat and seeds brand Thanasi Foods for an undisclosed sum in March.

Now, the US branded food giant has a burgeoning portfolio of meat snack labels under its umbrella including Slim Jim, Duke’s dried sausages and beef jerky and Penrose Pickled Sausages. It also has high-protein seed brands Bigs and David in the portfolio.
