Construction begins on new Cargill headquarters

Construction work began today as privately-owned commodities trader Cargill builds a new headquarters for its huge meat division.

Cargill Protein will have a new HQ in Wichita, Kansas by October 2018, where it will manage all turkey, beef, foodservice and food distribution businesses across the US and Canada.

Our new headquarters reflects our enthusiasm and optimism for the future growth of our protein business, as well as our focus on meeting both our customers’ needs and providing an engaging, modern, aesthetically compelling work environment for our Wichita team,” said Cargill Protein president Brian Sikes.

We look forward to occupying this world-class workspace."

The new facility will house four stories of office space complete with an immersive technology centre, presentation kitchen, sensory centre kitchen and food-testing booths. The new office will have room for up to 950 staff.

Cargill’s new HQ comes as Wichita goes through something of a revitalisation to its downtown district, and the site has been designed to fit the city’s new style, according to the business. The Opus Group has been tasked to build the new 190,000sq ft office building.

We are delighted to build on our existing relationship with the Cargill team by working on its new protein business headquarters and supporting the team’s vision in Wichita,” said Tim Callahan, senior project manager, Opus Design Build.

We are working alongside fantastic local partners to deliver a state-of-the-art headquarters that embodies Cargill Protein’s mission and cultivates future growth.”
