Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger lands Shaw’s listing

Beyond Meat’s revolutionary plant-based burger has secured a listing at US supermarket Shaw’s, meaning the patty can now be bought in over 4,000 supermarkets.

The Beyond Burger, backed by Gill Gates and Leonardo DiCaprio, is now being sold at 153 Shaw’s outlets across Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont. It landed on supermarket shelves earlier this month, continuing the young company’s rapid expansion into consumer-facing food businesses nationwide.

The rapid growth in demand and distribution for the Beyond Burger speaks to a powerful shift among consumers toward plant-based protein, one we are pleased to respond to and further fuel with the taste and overall performance of the Beyond Burger,” said Ethan Brown, CEO of Beyond Meat, on securing Shaw’s listing.

Rapid retail expansion

With Shaw’s selling the patty, Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger can now be bought at more than 4,300 grocery stores across the US.

The company’s rapid retail growth comes as more foodservice firms and restaurants explore partnerships with Beyond Meat. TGI Fridays has reportedly signed a major deal to stock the company’s ground-breaking patty, but neither TGI Fridays nor Beyond Meats  have confirmed this online. Neither could not be reached for comment at the time of writing.

Beyond Meat’s plant-based burger is made without genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), soy or gluten. The company claims its quarter-pound patty has more protein and less saturated fat than beef
