JUST, formerly Hampton Creek, has appointed Pedro de Andrade Faria to its board of directors.
His appointment comes after company exclusively told this site it was interested in working with the world’s biggest meat processors to build scale and efficiency into its nascent lab-grown meat project. The company also said it was in talks to license its technology to tens of meat processors all over the world.
De Andrade’s meat, money links invaluable for JUST
JUST CEO and founder Josh Tetrick said the appointment of de Andrade was a “major development”, adding the new recruit would bring “a wealth of experience in food and finance” to the company.
De Andrade was global CEO of BRF for over three years, but left the business in January 2018 to rejoin São Paulo-based asset management firm Tarpon Investimentos.
“We’ve made a lot of progress and continue to believe that our world-class team and technology can overcome key hurdles facing the nascent sector and bring a new and better kind of meat to market, but to do that, we need to work with and learn from some of the largest players in the food industry,” said Tetrick.
De Andrade joins a list of heavy-hitting directors at JUST that include Saudi Arabian Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal and DuPont executive Jim Borel.
