The Pork Checkoff, which is part of the National Pork Board, will choose keynote speakers to discuss emerging issues at the event and will share its ‘We Care’ initiative and sustainability story of US pig farmers.
The 22nd World Meat Congress, which will be hosted by the International Meat Secretariat and US Meat Export Federation, will be held in the US for the first time in 20 years and will host members of the world’s red meat industry.
Bill Luckey, chair of Pork Checkoff’s international marketing committee, said being a World Meat Congress sponsor would help to build critical relationships and articulate key strategies to define new export markets and grow pork demand in existing ones.
“This conference provides a historic opportunity to gather critical insights and showcase the superiority of US pork production to key international customers,” said Luckey. “Exports will continue to play an important role in producer profitability during 2018, and offer the ability of our industry to sustainably grow in the future.”
Key speakers at the global event include:
* Canada’s Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food – Lawrence MacAulay
* Argentina’s Minister of Agro-Industry – Luis Etchevehere
* US Secretary of Agriculture – Sonny Perdue
