Marfrig will kickstart its Brazilian launch this month with the Paty Classic product, which will be available for foodservice customers only. In Argentina, however, more than 50% of burgers sold by Argentinian retailers are Paty burgers.
Marfrig decided to expand the product’s reach after conducting a market viability study, which showed positive results.
The CEO of Marfrig Argentina, Gustavo Kahl, said: “Making this commercial integration with Marfrig's unit in Brazil reinforces the importance of the brand and offers Brazilian consumers a genuine product, differentiated and made with 100% beef."
Paty hamburgers are manufactured at Marfrig’s San Jorge factory in the Argentinian province of Santa Fe.
The factory, which has the capacity to produce 3,400 tonnes per month of Paty, Good Mark and Barfy hamburgers. It also produces patties for fast food chains around Argentina.
The Argentinian Paty portfolio contains light and breaded lines as well as a premium range with ingredients such as red pepper, provolone cheese and caramelized onion.
"Offering the Brazilian market Marfrig product, recognized as the best hamburger in Argentina is a guarantee of origin, quality and adds value to the concept of hamburger consumption in the restaurants served by the company," said Marcelo Proença Cury, food service director of Marfrig.
One of the world's leading beef companies, Marfrig Global Foods, posted net revenue of R$41.4 billion (US$10.96 bn) in 2018. It has the capacity to slaughter 34,000 heads of cattle each day and can produce 232,000 tonnes of hamburger a year.
