Beyond Meat is rolling out its Beyond Breakfast Sausage Links in Canadian grocery stores nationwide marking the plant-based brand's entry into the Canadian retail breakfast category.

Beyond Meat has been growing its retail presence with a US retail launch of its plant-based frozen chicken tenders earlier this week and expanded distribution of its Beyond Breakfast sausage products at US Walmart stores, after first debuting its Breakfast Sausage Links at US retailers in 2020.

The plant-based links -- which are made from pea and rice protein and contain 12g of protein per serving and 35% less sodium than the leading brand of pork sausage --  deliver the same texture and flavor as traditional breakfast sausage, according to the company.

Beyond Breakfast Sausage Links are available in packages of eight sausage links and merchandised in the fresh meat section next to traditional pork breakfast options, for an MSRP of CAD 7.99 per pack.

Canada has seen a significant rise among flexitarians who are demanding more plant-based alternatives to meat and dairy products. According to Protein Industries Canada (PIC), in 2021, 9.84% of Canadians identify as flexitarian and 7.56% identified as vegetarians.

Yet, 47% of Canadian consumers surveyed by PIC said that they don't regularly buy plant-based protein products.
